Blackjack: Knowing What to Do
When Ueki Kouske was introduced to blackjack he was acting merely on impulse and that made him uncomfortable. Who would when one just acts without thinking? Although blackjack is a game of chance, it is not true that nothing can be strategized about it.
Blackjack is one of those short and thrilling games in the casino. It was even hotter than poker years ago but the stiff turn on the rules has made it less enjoyable to the million fans.
In a blackjack game as Ueki Kouske was told by Mori, each player is given two cards facing down so as not to reveal the its value. As for the bank, the dealer places a card facing up and the second one facing down. It is this faced up card that any player will take note.
Cards will only be handed to players when they have given their bets on the circle on the table. When player is contended of the cards in one's hand, one opts for a stand. When one does so, he or she compares his or her card to the dealer. Whoever gets the higher total not beyond 21 wins. In cases of equal total, no change of money occurs.
Remember in this game, one is pitted against the casino and that the dealer will only draw more cards to himself if his total is under 17, more than that he stands.
Going into a casino, there are about seven seats open to the blackjack table. It could go lower at five seats. In blackjack, unlike poker, players are to beat the dealer's hand and no other hands more; one will only be keen on one's cards and the dealer's. What cards the other players are holding are none of one's business.
Start with a seven or eight total hole card: if the dealer shows a deuce or higher, one goes for a hit or draws more cards. If the total is nine, double on three, four, five and six otherwise draw more cards. If one is not allowed to double, go for a hit.
With a total of ten, hit if the dealer shows a ten or an ace. If other cards are presented, double or if not permitted draw additional cards. If the total is eleven, hit if the dealer's card shows an ace. If less than that, double but if not allowed there is no other way but go for a hit.
Ueki asks what he should do when he has a total of 12. For such total it is advised to hit if the up card is two, three, seven and high cards. If the up card of dealer is four, five and six, stand.
For totals 13 to 16, stand if the up card is six and less than that. Higher than six, go for more cards. For 17 total
One has to remember what to do for ignorance is one reason casinos have heaping profits from blackjack. Beginners think that they must have a total of 21 to win. In blackjack, players will only beat the dealer's hand.
